Message from the President, Christopher Sy

Greetings to the FIHL Family! 

On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the Officers of Hockey Philippines, I wish everyone a safe and healthy new year ahead. 

I want to acknowledge and thank our Chairman, Mr. Hans T. Sy, for working hard to reopen the country's ice rink for our athletes. 

I also thank all the members of FIHL for their continued dedication and passion for ice hockey. Without our members, we will not be able to achieve everything we have done in the last five years. We look forward to more achievements and glory for our Federation in the years to come. We welcome all your ideas as we expand and grow the sport in this country. 

I hope all our members will continue to make us proud as Ambassadors of the sport, fully embodying the IIHF values of Fair Play, Respect, Equality, Sustainability, Fun, and Community. 

It is my honor to report to you that we have elected new members of the Board of Trustees. The new members of the Board are committed to diversity and inclusivity, open to new ideas and suggestions, and most importantly, wholeheartedly welcome everyone and anyone who would like to try their luck on the ice. 

We will also soon publish our new Code of Conduct, which is consistent with the mandate given to us by the PSC, POC, and the IIHF. 

The pandemic has changed the world as we know it. For us in FIHL, it has been challenging these past two years, as we were not able to get on the ice and play this sport we love. As we welcome the year of the Tiger, we look forward to the end of the pandemic and continuing to work together in unity as we adapt to the new normal. 

With the opening of the ice rink, I would like to remind all our members to follow all the government health protocols to safeguard the health of all. As we are still in a pandemic, members who do not fully disclose their health conditions during practice or competitions may face corresponding sanctions, in accordance with rules and regulations. 

Finally, I would like once again to thank you for your dedication to the sport. Indeed, nothing beats the "local game."
